Why do people get depressed... and what can be done?

When a person has become emotionally disturbed by whatever cause, the subconscious mind steps in, and it does so in one of three ways, with ANXIETY, DEPRESSION or ANGER (or a combination of all three).

Along with anxiety, DEPRESSION is one of the most significant causes of break up of relationships, career problems and lack of motivation. When depression occurs we know that the individual has found his current situation so difficult that he has to ‘turn in on himself’, he has lost his ability or wish to engage with others and his way of coping is to ‘close himself off’ from the world.

Symptoms would include:

This is a primitive response from the subconscious mind, just like anxiety. But unlike anxiety, where adrenaline is generated and the fight or flight mechanism is activated, with depression there are no chemicals produced at all, not even the hormones we need for motivation and a sense of purpose.

Hypnosis, alone or within brief Solution Focused Therapy, is extremely helpful for people suffering from depression. Although the individual will discuss his problems and understand why the depression came about, there is no need to dwell on the negative aspects of the past.

The treatment begins with hypnosis to reduce of anxiety levels often associated with depression (and which often cause insomnia in the depressed person). Once anxiety is reduced the focus moves to establishing areas of activity which will enable you to look to the future - making choices on how you want life to be. Eventually, re-programming and reframing techniques are used to allow you to look to the future with renewed focus and optimism.

HYPNOTHERAPY CAN TAKE YOU OUT OF THE DEPTHS OF DEPRESSION AND HELP YOU TO FIND YOUR WAY BACK TO YOU.
